Individual Developmental Plans (Performance Assessments)
Testing every aspect of your athlete’s athleticism to determine the most effective programming for your child. The evaluation is designed to identify your athletes weaknesses and clearly show how to turn them into strengths. Performance testing include aspects of sports specific requirements (agility, speed, etc) along with strength and mobility, assuring all components are assessed with the best sports specific measures for maximal performance while limiting future injury.
Group Sports Performance Training
Take your game to the next level with our Unlimited Training membership that includes personalized strength and speed training available 6 days a week implemented by our top of the line performance coaches. Programs are designed to take an athlete’s weaknesses and attack them to turn them into strengths to help them in achieving their top performance potential. Using our Team Buildr app to track progress and assess the effectiveness of each program to ensure your athletes hard work is paying off!!

Complete Performance Consultation Package
No longer is performance defined by one area but rather the optimization of multiple area of fitness and wellness. Here at Direct Sports Performance we want all out athletes to optimize their potential, that’s why we created the ‘Complete Performance Consultation Package’.
For only $199 (a $399 value) you will receive Four (4) 30min consultations to assess your performance (by our sports performance coaches), mobility and injury risk (by our doctors of physical therapy), nutrition (by a registered dietitian), and mental readiness (by our licensed clinical social worker) to ensure you can optimize on and off the field performance and training. Experts in each field will provide assessments to figure out your strengths and weaknesses and provide individual tools to guide and correct, along with several self-assessments guided worksheets and an additional education package.

Strength Training For Adult Performance
Direct Performance’s Strength and Conditioning Class for Adults is a 45 min class meeting 3x a week (6am-7am) at our Redmill Office (Tues, Wed, & Friday), along with open gym 8am-noon Mon-Fri, and an individualized program for each athlete that is geared towards improving your individual fitness and performance and reducing injury risk. Designed by Doctors of Physical Therapy (DPT) and implemented by our performance coaches. The program will contain exercises and programming strategies based on research and years of experience as DPTs that will help improve performance and keep you healthy and on track for your next fitness goal.
Adult performance is a top-of-the-line program for adults that are looking to achieve their Peak physical performance while living an active lifestyle. This program focuses on helping people improve the functional fitness by specializing their programs based on their specific needs. Our top of the line performance coaches pride themselves on the ability to give individual base training in a group setting. Providing a safe and effective training environment to ensure people are living the best lives and consistently pushing to achieve their goals
Private Training
Coming off an injury? Intimidated by the gym?? Try 1 on 1 sessions to ensure that your athletes program is specifically for them to best achieve their goals. Athletes coming off and injury can implement a return to sport program that can ensure they are ready to take the field with the confidence and the strength to not get re injured.
Virtual Training Membership
Bring the Direct Performance Program to you with our Virtual Training option. Designed for Vertical, Field, Endurance and Rotational athletes this program can help any athlete take their game to the next level. Using our Team Buildr App you will be able to track your progress and communicate with our top of the line performance coaches. Team Buildr also allows athletes to upload video to get feedback from Direct Sports Performance Coaches!!

2. Upon purchase, you will receive a ‘New Client Form’ link via email. Complete this form so our performance coaches can identify the perfect program for you and make necessary modifications based on your goals. Additionally, you’ll be provided with a link to download the TeamBuildr app.
3. Once you’ve completed the form, our performance coaches will review it and send you a link to kickstart your new program! Every exercise, rep, and set is carefully tailored to help you easily comprehend and achieve your workout goals. Our performance coaches will be available through the app to support any questions you may have.

My wife and I have three kids who developed a desire to play their respective sport in college around the beginning of high school. They all three are focused on their body’s development as it relates to basketball, football and soccer and take each time in the gym as an opportunity to improve their bodies athletically.
We initially heard of Max Wareing through some friends and his partnership with Beach FC. Our daughter and oldest son started working with Max to increase their quickness, speed and explosiveness a few years ago. Our younger son started at the speed school to prep for a football combine which later grew into a complete workout program with Max.
As parents, we are extremely pleased with how Max and his team not only pushes to enhance our kid’s athleticism, but genuinely cares for their success in life to include their mental approach and staying healthy. Max is up on the latest and greatest techniques for physical growth, nutrition as well as injury prevention. He constantly maintains a good balance of tough love and friendship while working with our crew. As tough as his workouts are, our kids enjoy going to spend time with him knowing they are getting better. He was also instrumental in providing a comprehensive rehab program for our daughter when she was recovering from a hip injury.
With one playing college basketball, another playing college football and one hoping to play soccer in college, we attribute a lot of their success to Max’s friendship, vision and motivation. They have and will continue to seek out Max when home for summers and any holiday breaks going forward. With very busy schedules, Max is very responsive to our kids and us when there are any general questions, scheduling conflicts or just to talk through goals.
Max Wareing

Max Wareing attended Old Dominion University where he studied sports fitness. Consistent with his studies, he became a certified speed, strength, and conditioning coach in 2013. Knowing he wanted to work with young athletes, he continued his education to become a certified Parisi Performance Coach in 2014. Less than a year later, Max became the Parisi Performance Program Director at Wareing’s Gym where he has been working with youth athletes in order to help them achieve peak performance while avoiding injury and having fun. Throughout his time at the gym, Max has not only trained various Division 1 School athletes, but has also worked with athletes that have competed on the professional and Olympic level.
It should be noted that Max’s grandfather, Jon Wareing, founded Wareing’s Gym in 1963, which to date is the oldest independently owned gym in America. As a member of the Wareing family, Max has been a presence in the gym since 2 days old and has effectively been raised in the fitness industry. He began coaching at the gym at the age of 18 and holds certifications in FMS (Functional Movement Screen), NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine), and landmine certification, an explosive sport specific training technique.
Max’s passion is helping athletes unlock their true potential while providing a fun training atmosphere. To do this, he works together with athletes and their parents to set achievable fitness goals through personalized coaching plans. He knows it takes a strong coach to build stronger athletes. Jimmy Mitchum
CSCS, ACSM, HFS
Jimmy Mitchum is a veteran strength and performance coach with over 10 years of experience training athletes across all levels—from youth development to adult general fitness to senior performance. Based in Virginia Beach, Jimmy brings more than 10,000 hours of hands-on coaching experience to Direct Sports Performance.
Jimmy’s athletic background is rooted in multi-sport participation, including football, baseball, basketball, and soccer, before specializing in wrestling at age 14. He competed at the collegiate level at James Madison University, where he was first introduced to structured strength and conditioning. That experience sparked a lifelong passion for human performance and movement science. He is currently very passionate about playing spikeball.
After overcoming a significant injury in his early 20s, Jimmy began immersing himself in all areas of fitness—ranging from CrossFit and bodybuilding to functional movement, plyometrics, and calisthenics. His diverse training background allows him to design programs tailored to each athlete’s unique needs, whether the goal is performance enhancement, injury resilience, or long-term health.
At DSP, Jimmy is committed to developing smarter, stronger, and more durable athletes. He prioritizes education, proper movement mechanics, and a growth mindset in every training session. His goal is not only to improve athletic performance, but to positively impact each athlete’s confidence, discipline, and quality of life—on and off the field.
Stephanie Rodriguez
Stephanie joined the Navy in 2008 where she found her passion for fitness. In 2013 before leaving to her duty station in Rota, Spain, she received her Crossfit Level 1 Trainer Certificate and started coaching at CrossFit Rota.
After nine years of active duty in the Military, she decided to separate from the Navy to pursue a degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Psychology. She attended Old Dominion University and graduated with a B.S. in December 2021.
While attending ODU, she received her Crossfit Level 2 Trainer Certificate to further her coaching education. She fell in love with coaching all different types of athletes and found it fulfilling to help people find the best versions of themselves.
Stephanie has always loved working with the younger population. Being able to take part in shaping our future leaders is something she takes much pride in. Being a part of DSP has given her just that.
On her off time, if she’s not working at Direct Sports Performance or studying, she’s either at the gym, spending time with friends or hanging out with her two pups. Stephanie is currently enrolled in ODU pursuing her second Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She will be graduating in the Fall of 2023.
